DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — A Davidson County man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Jonathan Charles Shores.
Jose Guadalupe Lopez faces charges including felony first-degree murder following an investigation into Shores’ disappearance. Shores was reported missing on Nov. 11, 2025, and his remains were later recovered in Fairfield County, South Carolina.
Authorities allege that Lopez shot Shores on Nov. 9, 2025, in Lexington, N.C., and fled with his girlfriend, Brennan Summer Alexander, in Shores’ vehicle. Lopez was arrested in Georgia for firearm possession, while Alexander was later arrested for a hit-and-run. Both are awaiting extradition to North Carolina.
Shores’ family has been notified of the recovery of his remains. The investigation remains active, and authorities encourage anyone with information to contact Detective H. Hall at 336-242-2120.
