18-year-old Wylie man faces $500,000 bond after robbery on May 16

WYLIE, Texas — Jose Calderon Jr., an 18-year-old resident of Wylie, has been arrested in connection to the aggravated robbery at Tobacco Town that occurred on May 16, 2025.

The Wylie Police Department identified Calderon Jr. following an investigation into the robbery at 620 N. State Hwy 78. On the evening of May 15, the suspect reportedly entered Tobacco Town, pointed a handgun at the store employee, and demanded cash and tobacco products.

Details of the Robbery and Investigation
The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash and various tobacco products before fleeing the scene. Officers arrived shortly after receiving the call, but the suspect had already fled in an unknown direction.

A K9 unit from the Allen Police Department and a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) helicopter assisted in the search, but the suspect was not located at the time.

After further investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Calderon Jr. on May 17, and he was apprehended on the morning of May 19 without incident.

Suspect in Custody with $500,000 Bond
Calderon Jr. was transported to the Wylie Jail, where his bond was set at $500,000. He faces charges for aggravated robbery and remains in custody as the investigation continues.

This case remains under investigation by the Wylie Police Department.
