SPARKS, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A couple was arrested over the weekend for illegally dumping trash from their side business onto private property in Sparks, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say 28-year-old Jose Javier Blanco and 35-year-old Krystal Marie Zavala were taken into custody and charged with illegal dumping after investigators determined they had discarded approximately 12.9 cubic feet of trash near the intersection of Bret Harte Drive and Notre Dame Lane.
The investigation began on the afternoon of July 26, when deputies from the Peter J. Herrera Patrol Station were dispatched following reports of illegal dumping in the area.
Upon arrival, deputies located a red and black Ford F-150 pickup truck in the desert roughly a quarter mile from the dumping site, linking the vehicle to the suspects and the illegal disposal.
Blanco and Zavala now face charges for environmental violations as the Sheriff’s Office continues its enforcement against unlawful waste disposal.
