Jose Benabides Corona Arrested for Bike Theft

Stolen orange bicycle recovered in Marina

by Sophia Bennett

Marina, Calif. — On October 31, 2025, at about 11:18 a.m., Marina police officers responded to a report of a suspicious man with an orange bicycle on the 100 block of Palm Avenue.

Officers located and identified the suspect as Jose Angel Benabides Corona, 40, of Greenfield. The orange bicycle matched one that had been reported stolen the previous day on Facebook and the Nextdoor app.

Corona was wearing the same clothing and accessories seen in photos posted online showing the theft in progress. Officers contacted the original poster, who confirmed the recovered bicycle was indeed theirs.

The stolen bike was returned to its owner, and Corona was arrested for grand theft, possession of stolen property, and violation of probation. He was booked into the Monterey County Jail.
