NAVARRE, Fla. — A Navarre man, Jordan Williams, 34, was arrested early Wednesday on multiple domestic violence charges after deputies responded to a victim’s plea for help left in a note inside a local business restroom on Tuesday.
The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office said the note, found in the restroom, identified the victim and stated she was being held against her will at a nearby residence and feared for her life.
Using surveillance footage, previous case files, and witness interviews, deputies identified Williams as the suspect. Williams has a documented history of domestic violence with the sheriff’s office.
Deputies obtained a search warrant and found an adult woman at Williams’ home who confirmed she had written the distress note. She reported a series of assaults and threats involving weapons and said she had been isolated for several months.
The victim showed visible injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment of suspected broken bones and other trauma.
Williams was arrested without incident and booked into the county jail. He faces charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping/false imprisonment, multiple counts of battery including strangulation. He is scheduled for a bond hearing Thursday.
Sheriff Bob Johnson praised the coordinated efforts of deputies and the victim’s courage, stating, “Thanks to her bravery and our swift action, she is now safe and receiving care.”
The sheriff’s office urges anyone experiencing abuse to call the Florida Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-500-1119 or 911. Help is available 24/7.
