Jones County Teen Arrested After String of Car Break-ins

Kuavon Worthy, 17, Faces Charges for Multiple Vehicle Thefts and Gun Stealing

A 17-year-old from Jones County has been arrested in connection with a series of car break-ins and thefts of firearms. The Jones County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) began receiving reports of break-ins on Monday, January 27, near Sun Valley Drive. In one of the incidents, a handgun was reported stolen from a vehicle.

The following day, deputies received additional calls from Troutman Drive and Bethune Downs Court, where a car was reported stolen. Authorities eventually located the stolen car in a wooded area off Horseshoe Drive.

The investigation continued when JCSO received another report on Friday, January 31, regarding a car break-in on Alton Drive, with multiple guns stolen. Deputies learned that the firearms were equipped with Airtags, a device that helps track their location.

Using the Airtags, deputies were led to a home on Horseshoe Drive. Despite searching the property, no stolen items were found inside. However, deputies later discovered the stolen firearms and other items behind a nearby home across the street.

After further investigation, authorities identified the homeowner’s 17-year-old grandson, Kuavon Worthy, as the suspect responsible for the break-ins. Worthy was arrested and taken
