EL PASO COUNTY, TX — On September 29, 2025, at approximately 10:29 PM, El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies conducting a routine patrol near the Econolodge Hotel on Space Village Avenue spotted a vehicle matching a stolen truck report.

Deputies observed a male wearing a black shirt near the 1992 Ford F-150 pickup. Additional deputies arrived as the male entered the truck with an adult female and two young children as passengers.

When the driver attempted to flee, deputies used a Tactical Intervention Method (TIM) maneuver to block the vehicle. The driver reversed into a marked patrol car and was brought to a stop.

The driver was identified as 31-year-old Jonathan Madrid, on parole for robbery and motor vehicle theft. He was arrested without incident.

A search of the truck uncovered methamphetamine, heroin, and drug paraphernalia.

Madrid was booked into El Paso County Jail on charges of motor vehicle theft, possession of a controlled substance, attempted vehicular eluding, and child abuse.
