Jonathan Levar Robinson, 35, has been charged in connection with an attempted bank robbery that took place on Tuesday, June 24, in Old Town Alexandria.

According to the Alexandria Police Department, Robinson entered the M&T Bank located at 833 S. Washington Street around 9:30 a.m. Wearing a black “COVID” mask and black clothing, and with noticeable facial tattoos, Robinson passed a note to the teller demanding cash. The bank’s alarm company promptly reported the incident.

Robinson fled the bank on foot without obtaining any money. Later that same day, he was arrested in Prince George’s County, Maryland, in connection with a separate bank robbery.

The Alexandria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division charged Robinson with attempted robbery by threat and wearing a mask to conceal his identity. Robinson, who has no fixed address, remains in custody in Prince George’s County awaiting extradition to Alexandria to face these charges.
