NASH COUNTY, N.C. — The Nash County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit arrested a convicted felon on multiple drug and firearm charges following a high-speed vehicle pursuit on January 3.
The incident began at 3684 Dunbarton Rd in Rocky Mount during a traffic stop for an equipment violation. Officials say the driver, Jonathan Kendall Bulluck, attempted to hand a concealed firearm to a family member at the scene, which was surrendered to deputies.
Bulluck then fled the traffic stop, prompting a pursuit down Hwy 97 into Edgecombe County, where a Nash County deputy successfully conducted a forced stop to end the chase. During the pursuit, Bulluck reportedly reached speeds of 80 mph and attempted to discard narcotics from the vehicle. Recovered packages contained methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Law enforcement records show Bulluck is a multi-convicted felon with 22 pending cases across multiple counties, including traffic, narcotics, and firearm violations, prohibiting him from possessing weapons or ammunition.
Bulluck was brought before a Nash County Magistrate, issued no bond due to his extensive pending cases, and is scheduled to appear in Nash County District Court on January 5. While being processed, officials said Bulluck made threats toward deputies and attempted to spit on one officer.
Bulluck faces the following charges:
Flee to Elude Arrest with Motor Vehicle (F)
Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (F)
Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver Heroin/Fentanyl (F)
Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver Methamphetamine (F)
Malicious Conduct by Prisoner (F)
Communicating Threats (M)
Resist/Obstruct/Delay a Law Enforcement Officer (M)
Various traffic violations resulting from the pursuit
As with all criminal matters, the charges are allegations only, and Bulluck is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
