Floyd County Man Arrested for Threats Against USPS Worker, Deputies

FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. — A Floyd County man is facing several charges after allegedly threatening to kill a U.S. Postal Service employee and sheriff’s deputies, authorities said.

Jonathan Howell, of Auxier, was arrested and charged with two counts of terroristic threatening, menacing, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and public intoxication, according to the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 6 p.m., deputies from FCSO and officers from the Prestonsburg Police Department served an arrest warrant at Howell’s residence in the Auxier community. The warrant followed reports that Howell had made threats to kill a postal worker and later posted threats on Facebook targeting law enforcement officers.

Howell was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held at the Floyd County Jail awaiting court proceedings.

Deputies said the threats and social media posts were taken seriously and prompted immediate action to ensure the safety of public employees and law enforcement personnel.
