CHRISTOPHER, IL – A 50-year-old man, Jonathan C. Love, was arrested on Thursday in Christopher after being involved in a violent altercation at City Park. Love was charged with robbery and aggravated battery.
According to the Christopher Police Department, officers responded to the park around midday and found the victim with minor facial injuries. While the victim was being assessed, police began searching for Love, who had fled the scene after attacking the victim and stealing personal items.
Later in the day, the victim returned home to discover that his front door had been forcibly opened. As the victim attempted to contact his neighbor for help, he encountered Love again, who allegedly tried to assault him. Fearing for his safety, the victim quickly fled and went straight to the police station to report the attack.
Police quickly acted on the victim’s information and located Love a few blocks away. He was arrested without incident. During the arrest, officers recovered the stolen items that Love had taken earlier. The items were promptly returned to the victim.
Love was taken to Franklin County Jail where he is being held on charges of robbery and aggravated battery. The investigation is ongoing.
