BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. — Jonathan Jayden Babson-Hill, 21, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Victor Scott Rojo early Friday morning in Ash, North Carolina.
The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) announced the arrest of Babson-Hill on Friday, September 5, following a manhunt that lasted several hours. He was apprehended by authorities early Friday afternoon and processed into the Brunswick County Detention Center, where he is currently being held without bond.
According to the BCSO, deputies were called to Vereen Road in Ash after a shooting occurred in the early hours of the morning. By 9:45 a.m., the sheriff’s office had publicly identified Babson-Hill as the suspect and warned the public not to approach him, calling him armed and dangerous.
By 3 p.m., the BCSO confirmed that Babson-Hill was in custody.
“The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office has located and apprehended Jonathan Jayden Babson-Hill,” the department said in an official statement. “He is now in custody in connection with the fatal shooting that occurred early this morning on Vereen Road in Ash.”
This case remains under active investigation, and further details have not yet been released.
