A local FedEx employee was arrested for allegedly stealing $7,000 in gift cards intended for delivery during the holiday season, authorities said.
Johnny Lee Teston, 28, of Hephzibah, was taken into custody on December 30 and faces multiple charges, including financial transaction card theft and fraud, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation began when Stacy Flowers of InComm Gift Card reported that 18 gift cards, totaling $7,000, went missing from a shipment sent to a resident in Warrenton. A confidential source identified Teston as the suspect, stating he allegedly took the gift cards and delivered them to another individual in Augusta using his FedEx vehicle. Authorities say Teston activated seven of the stolen cards.
FedEx confirmed Teston was assigned to deliver the missing shipment but failed to do so and reportedly applied a disruption code without authorization. Video evidence allegedly shows Teston and another person using one of the stolen cards at Parker’s Kitchen on Mike Padgett Highway in Augusta.
Teston remains in custody pending further investigation and formal charges.
