Johnny Dillard Arrested for Arson and Insurance Fraud in New Albany Fire

Landlord charged after July 29 house fire displaces family in Union County

NEW ALBANY, Miss. — Authorities have arrested Johnny Dillard, 59, following a house fire in Union County. The fire occurred on July 29 along Highway 30 East, where a family resided.

Union County Sheriff Jimmy Edwards confirmed the arrest of Dillard, charging him with arson and insurance fraud.

Fortunately, firefighters reported no injuries. The affected family, including Katelyn Conwill and her two daughters, lost all their belongings in the blaze. They are currently staying with a family member as they plan their next steps.

Conwill shared that the week has been difficult, but they have received substantial support from the community.
