John Weston Welborn Arrested After Fleeing Police in Clarkesville

Man Caught After 30-Minute Search with Drones and Tracking Dogs

CLARKESVILLE — John Weston Welborn, 45, was arrested Wednesday afternoon following a foot pursuit near Railroad Street Apartments in Clarkesville.

Deputies from the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office spotted Welborn around J. Kennedy Road and Ga. 197. He had an outstanding warrant related to child support. Upon noticing law enforcement, Welborn fled on foot.

Deputies, aided by local agencies, quickly established a perimeter and employed tracking dogs and drones to locate Welborn. After approximately 30 minutes, he was apprehended.

Welborn now faces additional charges of obstructing or hindering law enforcement alongside the existing warrant.
