TOLEDO, Ohio – A 54-year-old East Toledo man has been arrested and charged with making terroristic threats after allegedly sending violent messages in response to a bill being considered by the U.S. Senate.

John Strohscher, of the 200 block of Graham Street, was taken into custody by Toledo police on Wednesday and booked into Lucas County Jail. According to court documents, Strohscher used Facebook Messenger on Tuesday to send threatening messages to another user, expressing intentions to “unalive” political figures due to his dissatisfaction with the pending legislation.

Strohscher was arraigned on Thursday morning, where a public defender was appointed to represent him. He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on August 20.

The charge of making terroristic threats is a second-degree felony, carrying serious legal consequences if convicted.
