LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — A Breaux Bridge man was arrested Tuesday morning on hundreds of charges related to theft and identity theft involving a stolen gas card, officials reported.
John Lee Alexander, 43, is charged with 423 counts of identity theft and 423 counts of theft by swindling or false pretenses.
Authorities say Alexander allegedly stole a fuel card from a former employer and used it several hundred times to fill gas tanks on multiple vehicles.
Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle early Tuesday. Upon a routine check, deputies discovered Alexander had several hundred outstanding warrants.
Alexander was arrested at 5:49 a.m. and is currently held at the Lafayette Parish Jail on a $50,000 bond.
