GENESEE COUNTY, Mich. — A Richfield Township man has been convicted on five felony charges related to child pornography, according to the Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office.
John David Duford, 64, was convicted on Wednesday of three counts of child sexually abusive activity, one count of using a computer to commit a crime, and one count of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material.
The investigation began on May 10, 2016, when Duford’s roommate in Richfield Township called police to report finding child pornography images on Duford’s computer. The woman became suspicious after receiving a phone call from Duford, who was in jail in Tennessee for a separate case. He had asked her to destroy an envelope, but when she searched for it, she could not find it.
Her suspicions led her to examine Duford’s computer, where she discovered numerous images and videos that appeared to be child pornography.
“This was a repulsive case, and this man is a danger to children in our community and elsewhere,” said Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton in a written statement.
Duford, who is scheduled for sentencing on May 7, faces a maximum sentence of 90 years in prison.
