GUN BARREL CITY, Texas (KLTV) — A 23-year-old man is behind bars in Gun Barrel City after a woman died from a gunshot wound on Sunday.
John David Bunch-Stiles has been charged with criminal negligent homicide following the tragic incident. Police responded to a shooting call at a residence on Flagship Lane around 4:08 p.m. Upon arrival, they found 22-year-old Mackenzie Wisdom suffering from a gunshot wound.
Wisdom was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The Gun Barrel City Police Department, along with Texas DPS, the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, and the Henderson County DA’s Office, initiated an investigation that led to Bunch-Stiles’s arrest.
Authorities have stated that they believe this to be an isolated incident. Bunch-Stiles was booked into the Henderson County Jail on Monday, where he remains in custody.
