In a significant breakthrough, Jubilee Hills Police have unearthed a fraudulent scheme involving the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF), where Rs8.71 lakh meant for genuine beneficiaries was siphoned off by a group of conspirators using forged documents and fake bank accounts.
The key accused, Jogula Naresh Kumar (42), a kirana shop owner from Mettuguda, is alleged to have led the scam, with support from:
Balagoni Venkatesh (37), office subordinate at MPDO office, Nalgonda
Korlapati Vamshi (24), car driver from Khammam
Pulipaka Omkar (34), driver from Peddapalle
And several others — who are currently absconding.
Investigations revealed that Naresh gained unauthorized access to 230 undelivered CMRF cheques left unclaimed after the 2023 Telangana elections and subsequent change in government.
The group identified 19 original beneficiaries who hadn’t followed up on their applications. Using forged documents and identity details, they created fake bank accounts at the SBI branch on Road No. 5, Jubilee Hills, with names resembling the intended recipients. The funds were diverted into these accounts and later distributed among the group.
Several FIRs have been registered at Jubilee Hills Police Station across 2024 and 2025, citing forgery, criminal breach of trust, and financial fraud.
The investigation is being spearheaded by Sri R. Madhusudhan, Additional Inspector of Police, under the leadership of SHO K. Venkateshwara Reddy. Senior officers including ACP Jubilee Hills Division and DCP West Zone, Sri S M Vijay Kumar, are supervising the probe.
Police teams are actively tracking down the absconding accused and coordinating with banks for forensic financial tracing.
