Olympia, WA — A 36-year-old man identified as Joey Beaver was arrested after allegedly stealing over $1,100 worth of merchandise from the Home Depot on Fones Road SE in Olympia on June 13.
Olympia Police say store staff observed Beaver acting suspiciously around 9:30 p.m., climbing shelves and stuffing bags with Milwaukee tools and saw blades. Although he appeared to pay for some items at checkout, additional goods were reportedly concealed and unpaid.
Upon exiting the store, Beaver was stopped by officers who discovered the stolen merchandise along with a magnetic tag removal device in his pocket. The device was later linked to a 2023 theft case in Tumwater, where Beaver had previously admitted to stealing.
Police also recovered a $470 tent stolen from Cabela’s, a plastic smoking device, and a container with unidentified white residue.
Beaver was taken into custody at the scene and booked into Thurston County Corrections Facility. He now faces charges of retail theft with special circumstances, with possible additional charges pending.
