HORNELL, N.Y. (WETM) — A Hornell man was arrested on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after police responded to a theft at the Walmart in Hornell on Saturday afternoon.
According to the Hornell Police Department, 23-year-old Joel V. Burdett was taken into custody around 1:38 p.m. on August 16 after a reported larceny at the store. Upon arrival, officers located Burdett and arrested him at the scene.
During a search, police found a significant amount of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in Burdett’s possession.
He now faces the following charges:
Two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree (Class B felony)
Two counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree (Class A misdemeanor)
Grand larceny in the fourth degree (Class E felony)
Criminal mischief in the fourth degree (Class A misdemeanor)
Burdett was processed at the Steuben County Jail, where he is currently being held pending further proceedings.
