DECATUR, Ala. — The Decatur Police Department arrested Joel Phillip Ghrigsby, 63, Tuesday, following an investigation into years of recurring theft from a local business.

The investigation began on August 6 after a business owner in the 2300 block of 6th Ave. SE reported internal theft. Police discovered that Ghrigsby was linked to multiple years of theft involving more than $114,000 in stolen property.

On August 12, Decatur Police, with assistance from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search and arrest warrant at a residence in the 20000 block of County Road 460 in Trinity. Ghrigsby was found at the home and taken into custody.

He was transported to Morgan County Jail and held on a $30,000 cash bond as ordered by a Morgan County Circuit Court Judge. Records indicate that Ghrigsby has since posted bond and been released.
