Ramseur, N.C. — A Ramseur woman was arrested on Tuesday after investigators say she physically abused a 5-year-old child while babysitting over the weekend. Jody Alanna Hayes, 30, faces felony negligent child abuse and misdemeanor assault charges after the incident, which occurred on January 31.
According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, the arrest warrant claims Hayes struck the child with an electronic tablet, leaving bruises and a laceration on his lip. The warrant also alleges that Hayes choked the child with both hands, causing multiple lacerations to the front and back of his neck.
The child was in Hayes’ care for the weekend when the abuse allegedly occurred.
Hayes has been denied bond and is expected to appear in court on Wednesday.
