Boaz, AL – After a year-long investigation into illegal activities at massage parlors in Marshall County, four women have been arrested thanks to coordinated efforts by the Boaz Police Department and supporting agencies.
Joann Shiao and Jian Zhang were arrested on Thursday. Zhang, owner of Pro Massage, and Shiao, an employee at Aromatherapy Spa, face charges of promoting prostitution. The arrests came after months of surveillance, interviews with former patrons, and review of customer records. Authorities say the women offered sexual favors under the guise of massage or wellness services.
The Alabama Massage Therapy Licensing Board aided the investigation, which targeted covert operations within the community.
Earlier this week, two additional women were arrested at Sunshine Massage Parlor, located at 100 Elizabeth Street, Suite 417, following the execution of a search warrant.
Xiaodan Yang, 40, from Fuzen, China, was charged with two counts of prohibited activities related to soliciting prostitution, with bond set at $5,000. Gao Huaying, 37, of Fuzhou, China, faces one count of prohibited activities with bond at $2,500. Both are held at the Marshall County Jail.
These arrests are part of a larger effort to combat prostitution-related offenses in area businesses. The Marshall County District Attorney’s Office provided legal support during the investigation.
Shiao and Zhang remain in custody at the Boaz City Jail, with bond details pending. Authorities urge anyone with information about Pro Massage, Aromatherapy Spa, or Sunshine Massage Parlor to contact the Boaz Police Department. More arrests and witness interviews are anticipated as the investigation continues.
