J&K Police Arrest Three Drug Consumers in Awantipora

Three arrested for drug consumption in Awantipora; sent for rehabilitation.

Continuing its efforts to combat drug abuse, the Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested three drug consumers from the Awantipora area.

A police spokesperson shared that, during routine patrolling, a police team from Awantipora Police Station apprehended three individuals found in suspicious circumstances in an Eco Sports vehicle (registration number JK01BA-3092).

The arrested individuals were identified as:

Hilal Ahmad Ahanger (son of Ab Satar Ahanger), resident of Badipora Budgam
Nasir Ahmad Mir (son of Mohd Ashraf Mir), resident of Badipora Budgam
Aftab Ahmad Magray (son of Mushtaq Ahmad Magray), resident of Sugam Budgam
During questioning, the trio admitted to being regular drug consumers. Following this, they were shifted to a drug de-addiction/rehabilitation center in Tral for further treatment. Tests conducted at the center confirmed that all three tested positive for drug use.

A case was registered under FIR No. 46/2025 at Awantipora Police Station, and appropriate action is being taken.

The J&K Police remains committed to tackling the growing drug menace, striving to ensure a safe, drug-free society. They urge the public to assist by reporting any suspicious narcotic-related activities to the nearest police station.
