Jitendra, Sujit & Dharmendra Arrested in Aman Shukla Murder

Patna Police Nab Three for Contract Killing of Criminal

by Ananya Mehta

Patna police have arrested three individuals in connection with the murder of notorious criminal Aman Shukla, who was killed on January 5 in the Patrakar Nagar Police Station area of Patna.

The accused have been identified as:

Jitendra Kumar, resident of Sotachak, Parsa Bazar

Sujit Kumar alias Sonu Kumar, resident of Fatehpur

Dharmendra Kumar, resident of Vishanpura

According to SSP Kartikeya K Sharma, the primary motive behind Shukla’s killing was a feud between him and his former associate Sujit alias Kallu, triggered by Shukla’s attempts to reorganize his gang for large-scale crimes. Shukla, who had previously served multiple jail terms and was involved in bank robberies, had begun reviving old criminal networks, which alarmed Kallu.

The accused allegedly offered Rs5 lakh to the shooters to carry out the murder. On the day of the killing, Shukla deliberately surrendered in court under a separate Arms Act case to establish an alibi.

Acting on technical leads, CCTV footage, and forensic evidence, a special team led by City SP (East) Parichay Kumar first arrested Jitendra Kumar, identified as the key conspirator with a history of contract killings. Subsequent interrogations led to the arrests of Sujit Kumar, who drove the getaway motorcycle, and Dharmendra Kumar, the shooter.

The case was registered at Patrakar Nagar Police Station under BNS and the Arms Act. Raids following the arrests resulted in the recovery of two country-made pistols, a desi katta, the motorcycle used in the crime, helmets, four mobile phones containing incriminating chats, and Rs70,000 in cash—part of the Rs3.4 lakh paid for the contract killing.

The SSP stated that the operation, completed within five days, not only solved Shukla’s murder but also disrupted his planned criminal activities. Additionally, five other individuals with prior criminal records were detained for questioning under preventive sections.
