Authorities in Baghpat arrested a man after a video showing him allegedly abusing a dog and forcing it to consume alcohol went viral on social media.
The accused has been identified as Jitendra, also known as Ballam, a resident of Kirthal village. The video reportedly depicts Jitendra subjecting the dog to cruelty while making it drink from a liquor bottle.
Following the online circulation of the footage, the Baghpat social media cell and Ramala police station initiated an investigation. Jitendra was apprehended on Sunday in the Ramala area and taken into custody.
A formal case has been registered against him under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, and authorities confirmed that further legal action will follow. Police have urged citizens to report such incidents promptly to prevent abuse and protect animals.
