In a major crackdown, Gurugram Police have arrested eight individuals in separate cases involving illegal drugs and gambling, officials said on Monday.
On the night of May 11 and 12, four people were arrested for possession and sale of illegal narcotics from various locations across Gurugram. The Crime Branch Sikanderpur arrested Jitender alias Jeetu, a resident of Dholpur, Rajasthan, from Laxman Vihar with 1.24 kg of ganja. Another accused, Kamlesh alias Popat from Siwan, Bihar, was caught near Khandsa with 1.98 kg of ganja.
In a separate operation, the Sector-39 Crime Branch apprehended Sushant Parmar, a resident of Palam Vihar, from Sector-23, with 3.05 kg of ganja and a scooter. In total, the police seized 6.27 kg of ganja, 22 grams of heroin, one scooter, and one motorcycle from the four accused.
In an earlier operation on May 10, a team from Rajendra Park Police Station cracked down on illegal gambling activities. Four people—Chetan Sharma, Lakshya Gaur alias Sumit, Himanshu, and Naveen, all from Rewari—were arrested from Babupur and Surat Nagar Phase-1. The police recovered Rs1,390 in cash during the arrests.
Two separate cases were registered under the Gambling Act, and all accused are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
