Luzerne County, PA — Jimmy L. Zarr, 65, of Mocanaqua, has been sentenced to house arrest and ordered to pay restitution for stealing over $150,000 from the Polish Falcons Social Club in Conyngham Twp. Zarr previously pleaded guilty to a felony theft charge after an investigation uncovered his involvement in the theft of club funds.

Luzerne County Judge Joseph F. Sklarosky Jr. sentenced Zarr on Monday, mandating that he serve one month of house arrest with electronic monitoring, followed by five years of probation.

The thefts came to light in November 2022 after a routine audit commissioned by club officials revealed that over $170,000 had gone missing. Zarr, who was the bar manager, was responsible for managing the club’s cash, including cash registers, the safe, and bank deposits.

According to prosecutors, Zarr “announced his retirement” shortly before the audit was conducted in October 2022, prompting further investigation.

As part of his sentence, Zarr was ordered to pay $161,960 in restitution to the club.
