Mount Vernon Police District detectives have charged a man less than 24 hours after a series of phone store burglaries across Fairfax County.
Surveillance footage showed the suspect breaking a store window with a rock and entering the business during the first burglary on January 28 at 1:57 a.m. Additional burglaries occurred on February 4 at multiple locations, including T-Mobile stores in Falls Church and Groveton, and Boost Mobile locations in Hybla Valley and Woodlawn.
Using surveillance cameras linked through the Connect Fairfax County program and license plate reader technology, detectives identified a vehicle connected to the crimes.
On the evening of February 4, Metropolitan Police in Washington, D.C., located the vehicle and detained the driver, 36-year-old Jimmie L. Williams. Fairfax County detectives confirmed Williams’ involvement in the burglaries.
Williams is currently being held at D.C. Central Detention Facility facing charges of burglary, destruction of property, and petit larceny. He will be extradited to Fairfax County, where the crimes occurred, and additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.
