NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A 37-year-old man has been charged in connection with a violent August shooting at a birthday party in South Nashville, authorities announced Tuesday.
Jilber Aguirre-Videa faces multiple charges, including:
Attempted murder
Aggravated assault
Using a firearm to commit a dangerous felony
The shooting occurred around 7 a.m. on August 24 in the 300 block of Natchez Court. According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the incident stemmed from a fight involving a machete, during which shots were fired.
Two people — a 28-year-old man and his 33-year-old sister — were injured and taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment.
After the shooting, investigators discovered that Aguirre-Videa fled Nashville. With the help of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), he was located and arrested in Cincinnati, Ohio, on September 17.
He was returned to Nashville this week to face charges. Police believe the shooting may be connected to a prior dispute involving the 28-year-old victim.
No further details were released by authorities.
