Jeypore town police arrested two individuals on Tuesday in connection with a house theft reported from Power House Colony. The accused have been identified as Rinku Beniya (23) and Sushanta Kandhapan (28), both residents of Jeypore.

The complainant, Babuji Pattnaik (59), was visiting his daughter in Hyderabad when he was informed by a neighbor about the theft on August 7. After returning, he lodged a written complaint on August 8.

Using CCTV footage and intelligence, police discovered that in the early hours of August 7, the accused broke the lock of Pattnaik’s residence and stole gold, silver, and cash. Raids at their homes led to their arrest. During interrogation, both confessed to the crime, according to Ullas Chandra Rout, IIC of Jeypore Town Police Station.

Police recovered a gold biscuit weighing 8 grams, a pair of gold earrings, and several silver items. They also seized a motorcycle and a car allegedly used in the crime.

Sushanta also admitted his involvement, along with six others, in a July theft in Badlikudma village under Dasmantpur police jurisdiction.
