Jeypore Police Arrest Five Youths in Theft Spree

Motorcycles and Gas Cylinders Recovered by Police

Jeypore, Odisha: The Jeypore Town Police have arrested five local youths involved in a series of thefts spanning the last five months. The accused were allegedly responsible for stealing five motorcycles from various locations and two cooking gas cylinders from the kitchen of Vivekananda Hostel at Vikram Dev University.

The arrested individuals are:

Bishal Nag (20) – Odia Medri Sahi

Rinku Bag (20) – local resident

Sunil Paraja alias Lalu (19) – Odia Medri Sahi

Aditya Khosla (23) – Christian Peta, Biju Rajnagar Sahi

Rakesh Harijan (23) – Christian Sahi

The case came to light when Laxman Patra, superintendent of Vivekananda Hostel, reported the theft of two gas cylinders. Police reviewed CCTV footage and swiftly arrested Sunil Paraja, recovering the stolen cylinders.

Investigations linked the group to multiple previous thefts:

November 4, 2025: Rinku Bag arrested for stealing a motorcycle from Kantara Sahi.

January 23, 2026: Aditya Khosla arrested for motorcycle theft in Sleepwell Colony.

January 29, 2026: Bishal Nag arrested for stealing a motorcycle near Glocal Hospital.

September 9, 2025: Rakesh Harijan arrested for a similar theft in Kumhar Sahi.

Town Police Officer Ullas Raut said that a combination of CCTV analysis, technical surveillance, and sustained investigation led to the arrests and recovery of stolen property. Authorities continue to investigate if the group was involved in other thefts across Jeypore town.
