Jevon Scott Accused of $21K Payroll Fraud at PBSC

Former student allegedly clocked in without working

A former student worker at Palm Beach State College (PBSC) has been accused of fraudulently collecting nearly $21,000 in wages over two years for work he allegedly never performed.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO), Jevon Scott, 30, continued to log work hours through PBSC’s mobile timekeeping system from May 2022 to April 2024, even though he graduated in May 2022 and was reportedly not present on campus during those times.

The scheme came to light after PBSC staff from Payroll, Accounting, Financial Aid, and Human Resources flagged inconsistencies in Scott’s employment records.

An internal audit revealed that Scott remained eligible for student employment due to enrolling in another academic program after graduation, allowing him to continue working under federal financial aid guidelines. However, college officials found no evidence that Scott actually performed any work in the Humanities Department, where he was assigned.

When questioned by the Student Employee Coordinator, Scott allegedly claimed he was working under another employee — who later denied supervising him.

His official employment was terminated in April 2024 to prevent further losses. PBSO estimates the total amount paid to Scott for unworked hours is $20,753.75.

Scott has not publicly commented on the allegations. The investigation remains ongoing.
