In a swift and successful operation, the Domalguda police apprehended two individuals accused of stealing Rs17 lakh and recovered the entire amount within two hours of receiving the complaint.
The accused have been identified as Jethin Raj Yadav (21) of Moosarambagh and Souda Abhilash (18) of Malakpet. The duo was involved in diverting funds from Manbhavana Chit Fund Private Ltd., where Jethin worked as a collection agent.
According to the complaint filed by businessman Gopal Taparia, Jethin was sent on June 25 to collect Rs17 lakh from a client, Pankaj Agarwal, in Jubilee Hills. After receiving the amount, Jethin claimed he was heading back to the office but later told Taparia he met with an accident at Upper Tank Bund and the cash was missing.
However, upon investigation, CCTV footage and local inquiries revealed inconsistencies in Jethin’s story. Police discovered that he had staged the incident, handed over the bag containing the cash to his friend Abhilash, and faked the accident by admitting himself to Gandhi Hospital.
Under interrogation, Jethin confessed and led police to the location of the bag at his residence, from where Rs14.5 lakh was recovered. An additional Rs2.5 lakh was seized from Abhilash.
DCP Central Zone K Shilpa Valli praised the prompt action of the police team, stating that the recovery of the entire stolen amount within two hours demonstrated high efficiency and coordination.
