Jessie Butler Case Moves Forward Over Bestiality Charges

Gainesville man faces charges after disturbing image discovery

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – A disturbing criminal case involving alleged bestiality is advancing in Gainesville as defense attorneys seek access to the evidence.

On Thursday, the public defender’s office submitted a notice of discovery in the case of Jessie Butler, 35, formally requesting the prosecution’s evidence.

Butler was arrested earlier in the week after Gainesville Police received a tip about potential child sexual abuse material being uploaded online. However, investigators did not locate any child pornography.

Instead, they reportedly discovered more than 150 images depicting bestiality—a form of illegal sexual activity involving animals.

Butler now faces serious charges related to the possession of obscene material, and the case is expected to move forward in court following the discovery request.

Authorities have not released further details on how the materials were found or whether additional charges will be filed. The investigation remains ongoing.
