Jessie Bakere Charged After Franklinton Shooting

One person hospitalized with leg injury; suspect arrested

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A shooting near Franklinton early Thursday morning left one person hospitalized and led to the arrest of a suspect at the scene.

Columbus police responded to reports of gunfire shortly after midnight on the 100 block of N. Yale Avenue. When officers arrived, they discovered an adult victim with a gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

At the scene, officers detained 48-year-old Jessie Bakere, who was later charged with felonious assault in connection to the incident.

Authorities have not released further details regarding the motive or relationship between the suspect and the victim.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police are asking anyone with additional information to come forward.
