MOBILE, Ala. — A routine traffic stop led Mobile police to arrest two people accused of stealing air conditioning units from multiple residential and commercial properties across the area.
According to the Mobile Police Department, officers patrolling near Newburn Road and Highway 158 around 9 a.m. Tuesday spotted a vehicle that had been flagged in an ongoing investigation and initiated a traffic stop.
Police said the man and woman inside were detained in connection with numerous burglaries and thefts involving air conditioning units reported over a two-month period.
The suspects were identified as Jesse Higginbotham, 39, of Wilmer, and Jennifer Dickerson, 45, of Semmes. Both were booked into the Mobile County Metro Jail.
Dickerson faces charges including one count of first-degree criminal mischief, one count of second-degree theft of property, and six counts of first-degree theft of property.
Higginbotham is charged with one count of first-degree criminal mischief, three counts of second-degree theft of property, two counts of third-degree burglary, and 12 counts of first-degree theft of property, according to jail records.
Both suspects remained in custody as of early Wednesday afternoon.
