
TAMPA, Fla. – A 19-year-old man has been charged with premeditated first-degree murder following a deadly shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of April 20 at a Tampa apartment complex.
At approximately 3:45 a.m., Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of gunfire at 12401 Orange Grove Drive. Upon arrival, they found a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to AdventHealth Carrollwood Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Detectives identified Jesiah Deangelo-Cruz as the suspect during the investigation. Initially wanted in connection with a domestic violence incident, Deangelo-Cruz was charged with Armed Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, and Battery (Second/Subsequent Offense).
With the help of the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, Deangelo-Cruz was located and arrested in Pasco County, Florida.
As the homicide investigation progressed, additional evidence linked him directly to the fatal shooting. Authorities then secured a warrant charging him with Premeditated First-Degree Murder with a Firearm. He is currently held in Pasco County awaiting extradition to Hillsborough County.
Sheriff Chad Chronister stated:
“This suspect made a devastating and violent choice that took an innocent life. Thanks to the determined efforts of our detectives, he is now charged and will face the full consequences of his actions.”
The case remains under active investigation by local law enforcement.
