Duo arrested after vehicle pursuit tied to multiple business thefts

CASEYVILLE, Ill. — Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with a months-long burglary spree targeting businesses in Caseyville, police announced.

On September 5, 2025, officers arrested Jerry L. B. McCallister, 39, of Granite City, and Gabriel E. Valades-Gonzalez, 25, of State Park-Collinsville, after a vehicle pursuit and investigation tied them to multiple commercial break-ins between May and September 2025.

The investigation began after a May 7 burglary at Bobby’s on the Rocks (1050 South Main Street), where two suspects broke in overnight and stole cash, merchandise, and money from gaming machines.

Later, on September 2, a burglary was reported at Triple J Towing (1880 Black Lane), followed by another incident on September 3 at the Caseyville Inn (4038 North 89th Street), involving forced entry and theft from gaming machines.

On September 5, an officer spotted a Polaris XD with three masked men driving off-road. The ATV matched the description from an earlier attempted stop by Washington Park Police. The suspects fled into a bean field in State Park, Collinsville, where McCallister was arrested without incident, and the stolen Polaris—reported missing from Granite City—was recovered. Valades-Gonzalez was also arrested nearby.

Charges Filed:

Jerry McCallister:

Burglary

Theft

Criminal damage to property

Aggravated fleeing or eluding police

Aggravated possession of a stolen motor vehicle

Gabriel Valades-Gonzalez:

Burglary (related to Bobby’s on the Rocks and Caseyville Inn incidents)

The Caseyville Police Department, working alongside the Metro East Auto Theft Task Force, credited the arrests to “persistent investigation and interagency coordination.”

“These arrests are the result of ongoing efforts to curb property crime in the region,” said the department in a statement.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
