HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) — A longtime bookkeeper at the Legislative Center Inc. has been arrested in Honolulu on a $400,000 warrant, the Hawaii Department of the Attorney General announced Thursday.
Jerry Goode, 68, is accused of embezzling approximately $460,000 from various associations managed by the organization between 2017 and 2023. The arrest follows a detailed investigation conducted by the Attorney General’s Investigation Division.
Goode, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, was taken into custody on Wednesday and now faces 64 felony counts, including first- and second-degree theft and second-degree forgery. The charges span Class B and Class C felony categories, carrying potential prison sentences of up to 10 years.
The Legislative Center Inc. is a domestic for-profit corporation engaged in government affairs and association management. Authorities say Goode worked there for over 35 years.
The investigation into Goode’s alleged financial misconduct spanned several years and multiple organizations under the Legislative Center’s management umbrella.
