A 21-year-old Georgia father, Jerry Chambers Jr., has been arrested and charged with murder and child cruelty following the death of his three-month-old son, Joshua. The tragic incident occurred in a Travelodge hotel room in College Park, where the baby was discovered deceased in late January 2025.
According to a report by WSB-TV, Chambers told police he found Joshua unresponsive and foaming at the mouth inside the hotel room. He claimed he tried to revive the child but failed. However, rather than seeking immediate medical help, authorities say Chambers left for work, leaving the infant alone in the room.
Police say Chambers did not report the death until two days later, returning to find Joshua still unresponsive. Instead of calling for help, he allegedly packed a bag and left again.
An autopsy conducted by the Fulton County Medical Examiner determined that the cause of death was dehydration and undernourishment, consistent with infant neglect. The manner of death was officially ruled as homicide.
Chambers is currently being held in Fulton County Jail on a $150,000 bond as the investigation continues.
