LUBBOCK, Texas — Two men have been arrested following a Lubbock Police Department investigation into vehicle thefts allegedly tied to a local towing company.
On Thursday afternoon, LPD officers executed an arrest warrant for 45-year-old Jerry Cantu, owner of Cantu Towing, in the 3500 block of Avenue Q. Cantu was taken into custody on charges of theft and possession of a controlled substance. He also received citations for parking violations and failure to show proof of a rabies vaccination for a pet.
Officers remained at the scene, serving a search warrant connected to multiple stolen vehicle cases. As part of the operation, authorities seized eight vehicles believed to be linked to the ongoing investigation.
The incident marks a major development in a broader probe involving local car thefts and questionable towing practices.
