Two people were arrested after police executed a search warrant that uncovered drugs, cash, and a firearm at a home in Willimantic.
The Willimantic Police Department carried out a narcotics-related search warrant around 6 p.m. on Feb. 4 at a residence on Philip Lauter Avenue following an ongoing investigation.
During the search, K9 Drogo alerted officers to the presence of narcotics in several areas throughout the home. Investigators reported finding quantities of fentanyl and crack cocaine, along with cash believed to be proceeds from drug sales. Officers also discovered materials used to manufacture and package drugs for distribution.
Authorities said the search also uncovered a Glock 43 9mm pistol, a large-capacity magazine, and multiple rounds of ammunition in various calibers.
Police arrested Jerome Hunter, 39, who now faces six charges, including criminal possession of a pistol, criminal possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon, illegal possession of a large-capacity magazine, sale of a narcotic substance, operation of a drug factory, and possession of narcotics with intent to sell. He is being held on a $250,000 bond.
A second suspect, Brenda Ortiz, 55, was charged with four counts, including illegal possession of a large-capacity magazine, sale of a narcotic substance, operation of a drug factory, and possession of narcotics with intent to sell. Her bond was set at $100,000.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
