MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) — Two Fort Worth men, Jerome Marquise Donavon and James Albert Williams III, both 35, were arrested early Friday morning in Midland following a high-risk traffic stop linked to a woman’s 911 call reporting kidnapping and assault.
The woman called 911 shortly before 1 a.m. on June 6, reporting she was being kidnapped and assaulted by her ex-boyfriend. During the open-line call, she was heard screaming and crying, expressing distress before the call abruptly disconnected. Police tracked her phone as it moved through Midland intersections, including Loop 250, North Big Spring Street, and Burnett Lane, where she said she was thrown from a moving vehicle.
Officers located a vehicle matching her description — an older white Buick with a broken rear window — and conducted a traffic stop on Big Spring Street. During the stop, officers observed the passenger throw a bag containing 22.1 grams of crack cocaine out of the window.
Donavon and Williams were detained. Williams, who was driving, denied knowledge of a female passenger or drugs, while Donavon claimed he had only given a ride to a friend and her daughter. The victim later told police Donavon, her ex-boyfriend, had assaulted her in the car’s back seat, strangling her and restricting her breathing while child locks prevented her escape. She said he also threw her phone out of the car when she tried calling for help. The woman’s daughter reportedly handed her a second phone to call 911 after she was thrown from the vehicle.
Donavon faces multiple charges: kidnapping, assault of a family member by impeding breath (both third-degree felonies), possession of a controlled substance (a second-degree felony), and interference with an emergency call (a Class A misdemeanor). His bond was set at $100,500. Williams was charged with kidnapping and possession of a controlled substance, with bond set at $75,000.
As of Tuesday, both remain in the Midland County Detention Center with all charges pending.
