by Sophia Bennett

A 47-year-old man, Jeremy David Waldrop, was arrested in Asheville on Thursday, January 2, after being caught with stolen property and illegal narcotics. The Asheville Police Department was conducting crime prevention efforts in the Riverside Drive area when officers spotted Waldrop’s vehicle parked behind a business.

Upon investigation, it was determined that Waldrop was in possession of items stolen from a nearby business earlier that morning. In addition, he was found with illegal narcotics. Waldrop was charged with felony possession of stolen property and felony possession of schedule II narcotics.

This arrest follows Waldrop’s recent encounter with law enforcement on December 29, 2024, where he was charged with first-degree trespassing, tampering with a vehicle, and several open warrants related to larceny.

Waldrop was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility with a $5,000 unsecured bond. Authorities encourage anyone with information regarding illegal activity to contact the Asheville Police Department.
