LAMPASAS, TX — Jeremy Flint, the former band director at Lampasas High School and Middle School, was arrested on July 3 and charged with an improper relationship between an educator and a student—a second-degree felony.
The arrest follows a months-long investigation conducted by the Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office, with support from the Lampasas Police Department and the Texas Attorney General’s Office. Flint’s bond was set at $750,000.
According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation began on January 26, when concerned parents reported suspicions about Flint’s inappropriate relationship with their 17-year-old daughter. That same evening, School Resource Officer Sgt. Steve Sheldon informed Lampasas ISD Superintendent Dr. Chane Rascoe of the allegations.
Flint was immediately placed on administrative leave and was offered a meeting with district officials, which he declined. He submitted his resignation, which became effective February 28.
Sheriff David Parker explained the delay in the arrest:
“It took a while to get all the warrants and information. These cases require a thorough investigation.”
The second-degree felony charge stems from alleged sexual contact with the student. Authorities have not disclosed how long the relationship may have lasted. Only Jeremy Flint is facing charges at this time.
Flint’s wife, Chloe Flint—also a band director at Lampasas High School—resigned from the district effective February 5. She has not been charged.
Superintendent Rascoe emphasized that Flint passed all background checks prior to being hired:
“We conduct both state and federal background checks. There were no red flags. Fortunately, the student came forward.”
Rascoe added: “It’s a disgrace, and I hate it for the family. We’re keeping them in our thoughts.”
If convicted, Flint faces 2 to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
