Jered Grady Charged with Murder After Fatal Shooting in Duplin County

Victim Zachary Woody was shot and killed during an altercation near Hunting Club Road, officials say

BEULAVILLE, N.C. (Duplin County) — A man has been arrested and charged with murder following a fatal shooting that occurred Wednesday near Hunting Club Road, close to Pink Hill in Duplin County.

According to the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office, Jered Grady was involved in an altercation with Zachary Woody before the shooting took place. Investigators say the confrontation escalated, and as Woody was attempting to leave the scene, Grady allegedly opened fire, fatally striking him.

Grady has been charged with:

Open count of murder

Shooting into an occupied vehicle

He is currently being held in the Duplin County Jail without bond on the murder charge and under a $250,000 secured bond for the second charge.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains ongoing, and no further details have been released at this time.
