LOMPOC, CA — A Van Nuys woman has been arrested for felony theft after police say she stole thousands of dollars in merchandise from multiple Ulta Beauty locations.
Jennifer Hurtado was taken into custody by Lompoc Police at 6:03 p.m. Thursday after allegedly stealing over $1,600 in products from the Ulta store in Lompoc. Store employees contacted police as she exited the building and provided a description of her vehicle, including the license plate.
Officers spotted the vehicle nearby and conducted a traffic stop. Inside, they reportedly found not only the items stolen from Lompoc, but additional merchandise from Ulta stores in Goleta and Oxnard that had been stolen earlier the same day.
In total, more than $7,600 in stolen merchandise was recovered during the stop.
Police say Hurtado was taken to the Lompoc jail, where she confessed to the thefts from all three locations. Ulta Beauty management told authorities that Hurtado is suspected in a series of thefts across multiple cities and states, with total estimated losses reaching $152,000.
The investigation is ongoing, and Hurtado may face additional charges in other jurisdictions.
